The sights, smells, and sounds of Czechia and Slovakia permeated the annual CCMH Spring Festival on Saturday, April 20, 2024. The cultural extravaganza featured authentic cuisine, thirst-quenching beverages, gleeful folk music and dance, unique market finds, a colorful mosaic of arts and crafts for all ages, and memorable festivities that celebrate the heritage and accomplishments of the Czech and Slovak people.

Festival goers soaked in the atmosphere as they gobbled up klobasa served by Redneck Czechs Deli, sampled Czech beers, savored kolache from Weikel’s Bakery and homemade Czech desserts, and watched live music performances by Chris Rybak and youth pagent members of the CHS Texas Czech-Slovak Queens & Royalty. Kids’ activities included face painting, flower crown making, a puppet show, Maypole dances, traditional spring-inspired crafts, exciting games, and a photo booth to capture those must-have memories. The fantastically talented Tommy Richard captured families’ excitement with his caricature drawings, as SPJST once again sponsored the competitive kolache eating contest.

The CCMH was delighted to welcome guests and neighbors to celebrate springtime with arts and crafts, shopping, food, and performances. Thank you to all the volunteers, workers, community partners, and staff who helped make the festival so fun!!
