Dancing from the Heart (of Moravia)
The Czech Center Museum Houston is honored to present a special folklore performance featuring Lintava, an acclaimed cimbalom band from Kunovice in the Czech Republic. Known for their vibrant musicianship and deep roots in regional tradition, Lintava brings the authentic sound of the Slovácko region to Houston through dynamic instrumental performances and expressive vocal arrangements.
Joining the ensemble are two traditional dancers, whose energetic choreography and folk costumes bring Slovácko’s cultural heritage to life. Together, the musicians and dancers will present a rich program of songs, dances, and storytelling traditions that reflect the spirit, history, and artistry of southeastern Moravia.
This performance offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience Czech folklore in its most authentic form—celebrating community, craftsmanship, and cultural continuity. LINTAVA is a Cimbalom music band that originates from the town of Kunovice, in the Czech Republic. Lintava has been playing since 2002, performing music from Moravia, Bohemia, and Slovakia. They accompany folk ensembles in Kunovice during their performances, play at parties and casual gatherings over good wine in wine cellars, and perform at folk festivals such as the Ride of the Kings in Kunovice or the Folklore Festival in Strásžnice.
